We are a queer youth centre for teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 26.

We offer a variety of activities for all and opportunities to meet new people. We also offer counselling. You can find out more under Services (Angebote) and in the events diary (Kalender).

KUSS41 has a big open space with a bar, a pool table, a mini-library and plenty of opportunities to sit and relax. As well as our main room, there is also a space to chill out for whenever you need time to yourself or want to have a quiet chat.

Is this your first time at the centre?

Are you new to KUSS41 and want to get to know other queer people? You're not alone. You could either come to one of our activities or to a New to Queer Meet-Up. We look forward to seeing you!

 

But we also know that it can be a bit of a challenge to visit queer spaces for the first time, or to come to KUSS41 in particular. This is why we organise the New to Queer Meet-Up every few months on a Saturday. Everyone at the New to Queer Meet-Up is there for the first time. It's a great chance to get to know each other. After just one day, you'll see that there are people here you know.

Relatives

We're really happy that you've come across our youth centre's website as a parent or relative.

Part of our work is also to support you. If you need any advice, have a question or need any other kind of help, we're here for you.

You can get in touch with us by e-mail or give us a ring. You can also arrange to meet up with us if you prefer. Just so we're clear, we're bound by confidentiality when it comes to the private stuff of the young people who use our centre.

Sometimes parents and relatives want to come with their children to KUSS41 to make it easier for them to get off to a good start. Let us know in advance if you want to do this and you can come to the Open Door Café. We ask for your understanding that this does not apply to our guided meet-ups (A*Meet-Up, Trans* and Inter*Meet-Up, New to Queer Meet-Up), or only in special circumstances, as these meet-ups are where sensitive topics are discussed.

Friends and family members under the age of 27 are welcome to visit us with the young people coming to the centre at any time.

Services

  • Open Door Café  (Offenes Café)

    You can visit our Open Door Café on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Fridays it's open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 27 years of age can come. There's no special programme, so you can just do whatever feels good to you in the space. Whether you want to chat with others or just hang out, it's great.

    You can come to the Open Door Café spontaneously. There's no need to let us know in advance, as long as you come during opening hours. But if you would like to speak to one of us beforehand, please contact us by email!

  • Quiet Café (Offenes Wohnzimmer)

    The Quiet Café is open every Thursday from 3.30-5.30 p.m.

    Sometimes you need a quiet place away from home. But it's not always so easy to find somewhere.

    That's why there's no music or pool at the centre on Thursdays. So, you can study, read, listen to music with headphones or do something similar!

  • TIN*

    TIN* is the place to be on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month if you're trans, intersex, agender or non-binary. Even if your identity is not listed here, but you identify as part of the trans community, you are very welcome.

    The room opens at 6 p.m. We normally get started at 6.15 or 6.30 p.m. with a round of introductions and see if there are any topics you'd like to chat about as a group. After that, the space is open for whatever you want to do. If you join later, that's no problem. We look forward to seeing you!

  • A*Meet-Up (A*Treff)

    Every first Wednesday of the month we have an A*Meet-Up for asexual and/or aromantic people. Both labels stand for the associated spectrum. You are also welcome if you are demisexual, for example. It's fine if you're not exactly sure what label you fit into, but you think you're somewhere on the aromanticism-asexuality spectrum. 

    The room opens at 6 p.m. We normally get started at 6.15 or 6.30 p.m. with a round of introductions and see if there are any topics you'd like to chat about as a group. After that, the space is open for whatever you want to do. If you join later, that's no problem. We look forward to seeing you!

  • Ü18

    Open Door Café for everyone aged 18 to 26.

    There are no special activities planned at the Open Door Café, just a casual get-together. The space is yours and you can do whatever makes you feel good. Whether you want to chat with others or just hang out, it's great.

    And you don't have to tell us that you're coming to the Ü18-Treff. You are welcome to come when it suits you, as long as it is during opening hours. But if you would like to speak to one of us beforehand, please contact us by email!

  • The New to Queer Meet-Up (Queereinstiegs-Treffen)

    This meet-up is for anyone who's new to KUSS41 or would like to come for the first time.

    First things first – we'll all say hello over a round of introductions, then chat about how things are going for each of us.

    From 5.00 p.m., the café is also open to people who have been at KUSS41 for longer. If you've come to the New to Queer Meet-Up, you are welcome to stay afterwards.

    You don't have to let us know if you're coming, but you can if you want to.

  • Cookery evening (Kochabend)

    We cook and eat together.

    We'll be doing the shopping first and cooking only what we need, so it'd be great if you could be there on time.

    If you know you'll be late, please write to us at mitarbeitende [at] kuss41.de (mitarbeitende[at]kuss41[dot]de).

    We always cook so that you can eat vegan. We do our best to take into account food intolerances and allergies, and of course, preferences as well.

  • Art project (Kunstprojekt)

    On Friday afternoons, KUSS41 is open to anyone who wants to do something artistic. Usually there is a theme (such as photography, sound, music or similar), but sometimes not.

Counselling

Sometimes, life can be a bit of a struggle! Whatever you want to talk to us about, we're always here to listen! We're here to help, so just let us know.

You might want to ask us about:

  • Things to do with coming out
  • Discrimination you've experienced because of your queer identity
  • Problems at home, with parents, guardians, brother or sisters
  • Problems at school, on a training course or at university
  • Mental health issues like anxiety, depression or eating disorders
  • Problems in relationships or friendships
  • Any other topics that are worrying you and that you would like to talk to us about. If we can't help, we'll point you towards someone who might be able to.

You can have a chat with our educational team during a personal consultation. Just make an appointment or get in touch with us at the youth centre.

We also offer e-mail and telephone counselling. If you want, you don't have to give us your name for counselling sessions. We will treat anything you tell us with confidentiality.

Counselling centre for protection against violence

Thanks to funding from the State of Hesse, we are officially recognised as a counselling centre for protection against violence. Protection against violence and violence prevention for 14 to 27-year-olds has been another focus of our work for several years.

We know that "violence" means something different to everyone. You can contact us at any time if you feel threatened by a situation - you know best when you feel that way!
